Cody's Story

Cody, our beloved "Rags to Riches" AKA: Streets of Opa Locka (Miami) to Soho is the type of story that anyone who does dog rescue prays for everyday.

Cody was found in April 2006 by one of the Pet Rescue employees, living on a street corner in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Miami. He was starving and lonely with open sore wounds all over his body. After 45 minutes, he finally was lured by treats to jump in the backseat of the car.....and this started his journey at Pet Rescue. Cody was diagnosed with sarcopic mange and went through extensive treatment/medical care to nurse him back to health. He waited patiently for one and a half years for his angel to rescue him. Emily (Project Pet's VP) volunteered at Pet Rescue in Miami and fell in love with the boy who kept being overlooked... She eventually moved back to NYC with daily thoughts of Cody. Emily worked on getting her apartment in SoHo just perfect for her new family member....and off Emily went on her road trip journey to Miami to give Cody the home he dreamed of. As you can tell from the photos, the rest is history. Cody lives with Emily in NYC and has a smile each and everyday thinking about his journey from rags to riches.
